can a canon xl1 camcorder be used as a studio broadcast camera?

Hi,
I'm interested in doing live broadcast for pool tournaments in my country like ESPN does and I was wondering how can I set up 4 canon Xl1 camcorders to be used with a video mixer to do all the transitions between each camera?
