Hello,

Up until recently my life has been pretty much void of anything mechanical or tool-related. I recently purchased my own home a couple years ago and pretty much jumped right into buying my own tools and fixing up what needed to be fixed (house is 30 years old). So far everything has gone great and I have been successful with most endeavors and have learned a great deal.

One of my dreams has always been to have my own project car. Work is going great and I finally have some extra money to put towards a car and rebuilding a motor. I'm looking at the 78-81 firebirds/camaros and am wanting to start from scratch. My goal is not to have a rebuilt car, my goal is to do 'most' of the work myself and in the end have a rebuilt or new motor I put together myself. I am thinking of this as a learn as you go thing. I do have relatives/neighbors who are all very knowledgeable in this area (i guess I fell far from the tree) for help as I come across the need for it.

Is this something feasible for someone with no mechanical experience? Keep in mind this is something I'm considering as a multi-year project as between work, wife, and my toddler I will most likely only be able to spare one or two weekends a month. Thoughts? Opinions?

you will need to read a lot and watch technisions working, you must have experience

I think if you have the passion then you can really do that and there is always a first time to do stuff ....make sure you do get help from someone if you are messed up! Good Luck
