I love the anime gundam nd it's one of my top 4 series of all time but it has one deadly flaw. it was made out of order and over a long period of time. therefore makes no chronological seance technologically or even with the nations. so can anybody explain how many times a nation rebuilds itself after it's disbandment. for example the earth sphere alliance is in at least 3 gundams but in the same place other countries are that pop up and go away and come back for no apparent reason. also the technology doesn't have the order. remembering that gundam original was made in the late 1970 the technology was based of the technology of the time and the prequel to it made in the millenium is based of today's technology. and wing which happens several decades in the futre based of the 90's tech. so after I tell you all that I got two question

1. why can a series as good as gundam get away with this nd a series like star trek not.
2. can anybody on earth explain gundams linage or chronology

The primary storyline/canon of Gundam originated in 1979 with 'Kido Senshi' Gundam. THis storyline was called the 'Universal Century' storyline, pretty much origniated the whole 'Earth vs. the Space Colonies' theme. The UC timeline was continued with 'Zeta Gundam', 'Double Zeta Gundam', 'Gundam: Char's Counterattack", 'Gundam F-91', and 'Victory Gundam' In the 90's 2 OVA's were made to extend the storyline or get more mileage out of it. These OAV's were titled 'Gundam: War In the Pocket', 'Gundam: Stardust Memory', and 'Gundam 08th MS Team'. All three of these took place, story-wise between the events of Kido Senshi Gundam and Zeta Gundam. The latest chapter in the UC chapter is a full-length series, titled 'Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn'.

Now however, Sunrise Ent. made other Gundam shows, that were essentially retellings of the original UC-era saga. These are Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED, Gundam 00, Mobile Fighter G-Gundam. All essentially have similar main themes to the orig. shows, but with some subtle differences(e.g.: some of the protagonists and antagonists are minor revisions of the characters from the orig. shows), and the mobile suits in these retellings are a bit too extravagant, both in outward appearance and weaponry.

Doesn't seem like you were aware of this, though. Perhaps you could do a bit more research on this subject, yourself.
