can anyone provide a valid reason why pork is prohibited in islam and judaism.?

because pigs are dirty animals...they eat their own crap, they are gay, they have many worms inside their bodies, they bathe in mud, and they eat snakes and mice.

Simple. Undercooked pork can kill you because of the trichinosis parasite. 5,000 years ago, people got sick and died when eating undercooked pork. They had no idea what a parasite was, but they knew pork wasn't a good thing to eat. Eventually it got written in to the religion.

If you look at a lot of Kosher law, it often comes from very practical places.

YHWH's ban on eating pork was not necessarily based on health considerations but rather to keep the nation of Israel clean and separate from other nations. There were and still are hazards connected with the use of this meat for food. Since pigs are indiscriminate in their feeding habits, even eating carrion and offal, they tend to be infested with various parasitic organisms, including those responsible for diseases such as trichinosis and ascariasis.
Today, Christians are not under the restriction of the Law as to clean and unclean foods.
Acts 15:19,20. But aside from this Bible injunction, they are not to make the eating or the abstaining from certain kinds of food an issue or try to govern another person’s conscience by their own conscience as regards the eating of food.
On a personal note, if a person live in a country striked by famine and a pig happens to run in the street, would God really punished the person who kills it and eat it because of some food restriction?

"He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love" 1 John 4:8

"For this is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome" 1 John 5:3

Pork was forbidden in Middle Eastern countries by many religious groups like Islam and Judaism and it is thought that it was because pork goes off very quickly and could not be stored without risking serious contamination and death to the eater. Elders of the churches prohibiting pork solved that problem for the people.

In those days there was no health care, so prevention was better than cure!

Pigs are carriers of tape worms - at least those days.

Culturally, pigs eat pretty much what people eat. In a pastoral culture, there was usually barely enough food for the people, much less animals. It is pretty much agreed by anthropologists that these early desert dwellers did not have the ability to keep pigs. Pigs don't forage, they aren't herd animals, as are cattle and sheep. Pigs did not become domesticated until people began to farm and settle down in one place, and have 'slops' for their pigs.

Not eating pork is a command given by God to simply "not eat it".
There is no reason given. The command not to do it is strong enough 'not' to do it.
It would be what Jews call a Hoke. A hoke is a rule given that has no further explanation other than DO NOT DO IT.

:)

Have a great day.

both faiths follow the teachings in the Old Testament, in the OT pork is prohibited along with a list of other animals. Neither faith recognizes Jesus as the Messiah, and thus they still follow obligations in the OT that were no longer required after Christ's Ransom Sacrifice.

The reasoning behind God prohibiting Pork isn't really known, but if you look at a majority of the laws they were with regards to keeping the nation clean and healthy (there were some laws that only dealt with how you should prepare a place and discard a bowel movement) , so maybe God put this law in place because Pork isn't healthy for ingestion.

In those days, it could be because it spoiled easily and made people sick when they ate it. Today, it could be tradition or even that fish and poutry is more healthy. God's diet works very well.

I think it is a rule proposed by Christians and adopted by Muslims and Jews, because Christians first discovered the sacred secrets of bacon, and deemed it holy. Then, to have more bacon for themselves, they discouraged the Muslims and Jews from consuming bacon by focusing their attention on the filthy and dirty living conditions many pigs live in. The Christians don't care about the living conditions of the pigs, so long as the bacon tastes good, but the Muslims and Jews were able to live their lives without knowing the sweet and delicious longevity the consumption of bacon provides.

Mmmmmmmmmm, bacon......
