I bought a betta at a pet store. I didn't realize until I brought him home that he had fin rot. Then the next day he developed white cottony patches around his head (it was a fungal infection) and he didn't eat anything. So then I bought some medication and a heater. The medicine is working because his appetite is coming back. But, the only concern I have now is the heater. There is no temperature control on it and between the heater and the light the temperature of the tank has gone up to 82 degrees. My question is, how much is too much? Can a betta survive at a higher temperature then the recommended 75-80 degrees? Also, I remember reading somewhere that when a betta is sick it is helpful to have a higher temperature (like 85 degrees). I don't remember where I read that but it would be helpful if you guys could verify that information for me. I want to be 100% sure it is okay. If it isn't, I will not have the fish light on as often as before.
