If you're really close to your neighbour and still can't pick up the signal well, it could be that someone else is stealing signal too...so, if you actually have got your neighbour's permission, you could ask them to put a password on it so that anyone else who wants to pick up signal won't be able to. The more people using the same signal, the weaker it becomes so using an unprotected connection, you're likely to get a weaker signal.</blockquote>
