Can I buy-out iPhone 4 and put my sim from 3GS into it?

Just wondering because I got my 3GS like a month befour friggin apple decided to announce the iPhone 4, I'm willing to pay the $600-$1000 or w/e I'd just like to know if I could put my sim it, it seems to work when I had my 3G and put in into my mates 3GS temporarily... Thanks.
