I am currently training In MMA, and I have been for just over a year, and I wish to pursue It professionally. I am 16 years old, and currently overweight for my height by about 30-40 LBS. While this does not worry me, as I am able to routinely take down opponents much more "fit" than myself, what does worry me Is the fact that I have asthma. My asthma Is mild, and only flairs up once a year, during the spring and end of winter, due to pollen, and Is easily remedied with a single puff from my Inhaler(Albuterol Sulfate[I think]) and a precautionary puff of Quavar during the morning and night during the months during which I am affected. My asthma does not affect me after physical exertion. I want to know If this could be a reason for being denied the privilege to compete.

If you wanna compete, you have to lose those 30-40 pounds and even more (more like 50-60 realistically) You should have as little fat as possible, as wieght is huge and your cardio will be better the lighter you are. The asthma isn't a problem as long as you take care of it, and it doesn't prevent you from gassing out.

And 16 is a great age to start btw, as you'll have a good 5-6 years to train (as you start to peak at 22-23) good luck.

If I were you, I would give up on MMA and take up chess, knitting, or full time porn viewing. Those activities seem much more suitable for someone such as yourself.
