My right wrist is cracked. There is a 1.5 by 1.5 inch fracture in my wrist. It's been there for about two years. A piece of bone is detached from the regular piece of bone on my wrist. X-rays have shown that I already have scar tissue building around my wrist. The piece of bone detached from the wrist will never grow back into the correctly place without surgery.
About two years ago the doctor said that surgery would only serve an aesthetic purpose. He said that I would be able to do everyday activity with my wrist, but I should keep it easy on my wrist until it heals.
I want to participate in Kajukenbo, but I'm worried that my wrist will crack if I block with it. I'm also worried that it will break when my partner blocks my punch.
I've heard that fractures eventually heal. Is it possible for me to continue martial arts? Is it possible for me to keep taking martial arts. Also I feel a pain in my wrist when I strike really hard. My instructor always tells me to hit harder, but it causes my wrist pain.
