Is it possible to do HIIT (high intensity interval training) on a bike. I do a lot of biking and I would like to integrate HIIT in to my schedule. But I'm confused, some websites say 6 sec high, 9 sec low. Others say 8/12 or 30/30 or 30/60. I don't get it, which one is better?

well i usually use interval training quite a bit, but i run so usually i'll do 30 secs as fast as i can and then 60 secs at easy pace to let my heart rest for a bit before i go again, so yeah i would say do 30 secs of cycling as fast as possible and then 60 secs at a easy cycle, and i would recommend you repeat this 8 times.

hope this helps, good luck

You can implement the HIIT principle with bikes, swimming, running, eliptical etc etc.

Most sites I have read descrive it as 3 minutes warm up, 1 minute sprint, 1 minute medium, 1 minute sprint, 30 second medium, 30 second sprint etc etc, varying through a 15 or 20 minute workout including the 3 minute cool down
