Can I fix my '95 Lexus LS 400 stereo by myself? Or should I seek professional help?

I have had the car for about 2 months now. It has around 200K miles. When I bought it from the dealer, he told me the radio did not work, though the Lcd panel worked and stations would seem to be playing, nothing was coming out of the speakers. When driving later that week after I purchased the car, the radio began to work after I hit a bump. I believe that there is some wire that has a short or loose connection between the radio itself and the speaker system. Since then it has turned off for a couple of weeks, then it came back on for a few days. It has now been off for more than a month. Any help on taking the stereo out to find faulty wiring? Or where to look? Thanks!
