Can I Hook up a Used Rogers Cable Box to my existing setup?

I have two digital terminals with Rogers Cable already. I am looking to buy my friends (they have one but haven't used it in months). I was wondering if this would cost me more on my bill, or if this is even legal to do.

They did PURCHASE the box from Rogers.
