I have an Enviro brand Evolution model pellet stove. It was a gift from my parents, that was slightly used (less than 10 hours). I bought all the piping/appliance adapter, stinger, and caulking from a local supplier. I was going to install this myself with the help of a friend in a 15 year old house I recently purchased. There was a wood stove but the previous owner did not include in the sale. There is a black metal collar with a lip on it in where I would connect the exhaust piping into the the chimney. I had to measure this opening to get the right parts. I don't want to have a problem with the stove shutting itself off due to negative pressure nor do I want to have a carbon monoxide problem. The chimney is in excellent shape. What I want to know is: Is it ok to vent this into a chimney? Should I have the chimney cleaned? Since I will be venting into a chimney need I be concerned with back pressure? What is the best way to safely install this pellet stove?
