I want to get a mystery snail and I know that for each snail you need about 2.5 gallons of tank.
So I want to get a mystery snail and maybe a few fish.
I want to get a 5 gallon bowl or tank. What fish can I put in here? I don't really like bettas or tetras.
So what snail and how many fish can I put in like 4 or 5 gallon tank?
I was thinking about the BiOrb baby 4 gallon tank?

ajj- are you crazy??? Goldfish need 20+ gallons!

Anyway, that sounds great. I agree that bettas are probably the only fish that will not attack the snails- They are also fun to watch!!

Let's see... in a 5g with snails you might be able to put a guppy or two, but NOT with a betta in there also.

So your choice- guppies and snails or betta with snails!

Good luck!!

goldfish are huge poopers which is why you can't keep them in a bowl successfully. with the 4 gallon orb, you can keep one betta and a snail.

A Betta requires the least amount of gallons and that is 3-5. All you could get is a single Betta. All other species of fish need 10+ gallons. A Mystery Snail needs at least 5 gallons in my opinion. I have some slightly bigger than golf balls and I couldn't imagine a snail that big even in 3-5 gallons. It is up to you though.

No other fish will thrive in a 4 gallon. They may survive for awhile, but will die young from stress and bad water conditions (nothing against you~ a 5 gallon is unstable period).

Another option is 2 African Dwarf Frogs. They can survive with 1 gallon each although they are very messy. 2 would be best in 4 gallons.

Please stay away from all other fish if you can't get a 10 gallon at least.

@ Angelfish: I HATE calling people out but come on.
A Dwarf Gourami reaches 2-2.5" and needs at least 5 gallons although it wont be too happy. They are prone to, 'whole in the head disease' which is caused by bad water conditions and an unstable aquarium. A 4-5 gallon is too unstable for a Dwarf Gourami. It would need a 25% water change every 3 days to keep water in good condition.
Platies reach around 2.5" and need a 10 gallon at the very least.
Guppies also need at least 10 gallons.
Swardtails reach 4" and 4-5 stock a 20 gallon. They can't even be in a 10 gallon.

Please research before suggesting fish that will SURELY DIE in a 4 gallon.

forget the goldfish, they need at least a 30 gallon tank. 5 gallons is an ok size for some tropical fish, you could put a couple mystery snails and 2-3 platies or guppies would be fine. if you get platies or guppies make sure you get either all males or all females, if you get a mix of genders you will get little ones since the breed readily. guppies are really cool, so are platies. or you could try one dwarf gourami, or maybe a swordtail.

if you get a beta you can get the snail but no other fish because they will attack them. But you could get like 2 small goldfish and the mystery snail.

You can do a trio of guppies at a ratio of 1 male and 2 females just expect to buy another tank for upcoming baby guppies often. As far as the snail...1 applesnail will do or a few ramshorn snails but the rams also breed like crazy. With a tank this small a snail will cause you to have to clean the tank more frequently as they are big waste producers.
