I hope this concept isn't over everybody's head. I don't own a ps3, yet. But I Read that a firmware update that occurred on the ps3 allows for DIVX movies to played on the ps3. Now, I know that these movies can be stored on the ps3's harddrive. Now, I also read that the ps3 has a few usb ports. Now I assume that you can attach an a external harddrive to these usb ports. I'm curious would it be possible to store divx files (movies) on an external harddrive (100gb+) and attach it through the usb, to play the movies on the ps3.
Simply put yes, the latest update around one month ago now allowed movies to be shown on the PS3, and even store them on your PS3. Me and my mate watched Planet Terror and Deathproof on his 40GB PS3 last weekend, all he did was connect his External Harddrive to the PS3 via USB and copied the movies (quite simply done) to his videos folder. He then also did that to my PS3 60GB. 40GB has two USB ports, 60GB has four USB ports and you can also put multiple external harddrives and memory sticks in the same Playstation at the same time. Easy peasy, don't worry about putting any files onto your playstation it is easy just make sure that it is either a video, music or image file otherwise it won't read any of the data.
