I have an old razr...got rid of my cell service because I hardly ever used it. Rather than buy another phone (go Phone or tracfone), can I just convert my old phone into a pay as I go phone?

You have to get a SIM card that is compatible with the service you want to use. Also, if you're switching carriers (say your old service was AT&T and now you want Tracphone service) you need to get your phone unlocked so it will accept the Tracphone SIM. Service providers almost always lock the phones they sell you so that they'll only work with their service. The cheapest way is to just buy the prepaid phone kit at the store and use the SIM included in the kit in your Razr. But, again, make sure your phone is unlocked or else it won't recognize the SIM. If you need help on unlocking your phone check out www.howardforums.com or just do a web search for "how to unlock GSM phone". Some sites will do it for you for a few bucks.
