I am a professional photographer (at least i want to be), and I am looking to sell my pictures. I take pictures of nice cars; Am I allowed to use those photos, since I took those photos and they are now my property, to print in, say, calendars?? Do I need to ask them for permission? Yes, the purpose of this is to make money
example photos:
ferrari f40
lamborghini gallardo
porsche 997 turbo

they are exotic and nice looking, so will these companies say something if they see their cars and the badges being displayed for someone's profit?

If it's a "generic" car, then you could sell the prints. If it's a custom car, that could easily be identified, then you have to have a property release to sell them. Even for a generic car, you're really supposed to have a property release, but it's not as critical, hard to spot one generic car from another.

The photos are your property, the cars are not.

EDIT- The company won't say anything, the individual might. As long as it can't be identified, take out license plate numbers, etc. then it's acceptable. If it has any type of custom paint job, then you'd need a property release.

The only time a company would complain is if it's a implicit or explicit endorsement of a product or service. i.e. you sell a picture to a guy who does auto detailing or repairs, and he says he is "Approved by Porsche", then Porsche would have a problem.

You can certainly print the pictures, selling them, maybe not, it depends, being a photographer, you have to have a contract for everything, well everything expect to sell.

Like the guy above me said. If its a generic car, yeah im sure you can just take a picture of it, and they wouldnt care.

A unique car, maybe not, im not to sure, but if i were you, i would get a release form, of some sort, and get permission. Y'know, just to be safe.
