can i put my SIM card in a second hand phone? They are both the same make - Nokia. ?

I found the other cell at the second hand store where i work, so i have no idea who the previous owner had their service from. Mine is with Rogers. Does it matter? Can i just take the SIM card out of mine and put it into the other? OR do i have to do something else? Thank you in advance for any tips.
