can i register my soon coming puppies, their dad got hit by a car a few days

ago and i never got his papers? My female is a blue pitbull and the guy i bought her from lost the papers and now i can't reach him. He payed almost a thousand dollars for her. She is ready to drop her litter. The dad was just hit buy a car. I don't have his papers either but he is definetely purebred, could have been a show dog. The papers were both lost when my buddy moved and now i have no way of getting the papers. I don't have many pics of him but i can take pics of her. Is it even possible to get them papered and registered now.
