I am being sued by my former employer in Maryland for a theft scheme 1k to 10k. I have a court date for the coming Tuesday. I have tried to talk to my employer with the help of a lawyer to settle the case out of court. My employer kept saying that she has no intention of harming me but just wants her money back. She was saying that she only sued me because she felt that i betrayed her trust on me and does not want to hurt me if she just gets her money back. So to be on the safe side i got a lawyer and tried to settle the case in the past months. But my lawyer ended up ripping me off the money i gave him to pay her, taking my money and leaving me with no settlement with her...
I just talked to my employer today and she said i can give her $1500 tommorow and $1000 in four monthly payments and we can settle the case. And she said this all can be put in paper aggrement before i give her the money.... And i am thinking this will be the best idea since my lawyer has ripped me off and left me, i am days away from my court date, and i will end up paying more than the amount she is asking now if i am found guilty, looking at a possible jail term...
So my question is,,,, How Is The Case going to be Settled?.. will the judge dismiss my case if she does not show up in court or she has to come and say we settled the case? or is does she have to talk to the district attorney? ....
