Can I swap the sim card from a 3g Nokia to an iPhone?

I live in Australia, I'm currently on a plan with a regular third generation nokia phone. What i plan to do is throw away my nokia, buy a cheap iPhone outright from Amazon or Ebay, swap sim cards and continue with my plan.

IS THIS POSSIBLE????

Yes,it's possible.
