Can I take my iPhone to the Apple store to be fixed if I bought it from the 3 store?

The lock button on my iPhone is completely jammed so i need to exchange my phone. Will I need to take my phone to the 3 store because I bought it from there, or will I be able to take it the apple store? Also, will I need my warranty papers, and other papers, from 3 if i'm taking to the apple store? And also would I get a new phone there and then, at the apple store, or would they attempt to fix it? And would this cost?
 
I don't think the Apple Store will tell if you bought it from the 3 store, unless they check. But if the 3 store modified the iPhone and than sold it that would be copyright from Apple and the 3 store would be sued. So not much difference.

And yes, if you have a warranty, you probably need the papers. That's the point of a warranty, fixing your device. xP
