Can I take out my LG Vue Sim card & use in an Iphone?

I have a question,
I have an LG Vue with ATT wireless, and I wanted to buy an Iphone from soneone on craglist. What do I need to do just take my sim card out of my vue, and put it into the Iphone?
 
You can try it in the iPhone; since the iPhone, if locked, is probably on the AT&T network, then that's probably all that's necessary. If the iPhone will only make emergency calls with your "old" sim in it, then you may need to get the iPhone unlocked. Also, you need to determine if the data plan associated with your sim will work in an iPhone. Some carriers use different data plans for different types of phones; if the plan for your LG is not compatible with the plan for an iPhone, that would probably have to be changed.

If you have the opportunity to try the iPhone before you actually purchase it, then I'd certainly do that.
