Can i take the mazda CX-9 onto the desert ?

we stay in dubai, and we would like to give it a shot at taking in onto the desert sand as it is an AWD, but it is not a full time 4X4 , so we aren't sure, but basically its gonna be driving on deep sand and no rocks and all , just plain desert sand , How will it fair, any idea, thanks in advance !!!
