Can I unlock the Iphone 3G even from Rogers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Can you buy the Iphone 3G from Rogers without a contract or do you have to have one? I already have a plan from Rogers, could my plan work with the Iphone 3G, or do i have to get locked with Rogers data plans?
