[QUOTE="LucasM, post: 1596220, member: 315069"] ...DDR RAM? I have asked this question once before, but I don't think it was made clear enough, so here it is one more time: I have a soyo mother board, here are the specs: http://www.soyousa.com/product/search/1/SY-K7VMP2/226 This was copied and pasted directly from soyousa.com in reference to my motherboard's system memory: "Three DDR SDRAM (266/333) DIMM sockets support up to 3GB" As you can see, it supports 266mhz and 333mhz, or PC2100 and PC2700, respectively. What I'm wanting to know, is if it will accept 400mhz, or PC3200? To give a little background, this is an old computer, several years old. I am trying to get it back up into a usable state using parts I have laying around here and there. I happened to find an extra module of 400mhz or PC3200 RAM, and I thought it couldn't hurt to stick it in the third DIMM slot of my computer, since I already have 2 PC2100 sticks. If this was a newer computer, I would certainly consider buying the appropriate RAM, but I'm not interested in doing that for this computer -- I'm simply trying to figure out if this will work or not. So to re-iterate: I have 3 DIMM slots for DDR/SDRAM 266 or 333mhz (PC2100/PC2700) in my motherboard. 2 of those slots have pre-existing memory: 256mb, 226mhz each. (PC2100) I would like to fill the empty third slot with 256mb 400 mhz, (PC3200) DDR RAM. Since the specs on my motherboard only list it as supporting 226mhz/333mhz (PC2100/PC2700), will this work?
