Can I use duct hosing in my car for the air intake?

the reason i ask is because I need a temp setup until I can weld some aluminum together for my air intake, can i use the air duct hosing they sell at hardware stores as temp tubing, or will it not take the heat. Any help would be great, alternate suggestions are welcome.
