I want to buy an iPhone 4 and the carrier is Fido. I am currently on Rogers right now. I heard that sim cards with Rogers and Fido can be interchangable? So can I put my Rogers sim card into the FIDO iPhone 4 and use it? If that doesn't work, how can I use my rogers simcard in a FIDO iPhone 4? It is on the lastest firmware says the person that is selling to me. He said it can be downgraded and then unlocked? Is this true? Also does jailbreaking/unlocking slow down the iPhone?

P.S. I will be cutting my simcard into a microsim, is this a bad idea?

I don't think you can easily switch the Fido iPhone 4's carrier to Rogers without unlocking. If a phone is locked with any carrier then it definitely needs to be unlocked to witch carriers. To unlock an iPhone the remote unlock service would be a better option because, you need not give your mobile to someone else nor do you have any chance to enter the wrong unlock codes. To get such an unlocking service for your iPhone 4 approach Mobileunlocksolutions.com and remove the restriction from the respective network. This will be a permanent unlocking solution. This is irrespective of the firmware and thereby you can use the unlcok with the present firmware of your phone.Unlocking through this way doesn't involve jailbreak and hence there will be no compromise with the speed or functionality of the iPhone.

Cutting down your sim is not a bad idea provided you are following the correct process. If you are doubtful about it...you can just order the necessary sim size from your network provider.
