Can jailbreak apps work on a non-jailbroken iPad?

I want to update iOS. I don't really care much for the Cydia app store and only jailbroke my iPad for one app that isn't available on the App Store. So now that I have it, is there a way I can revert my iPad back to normal and still use it?
I know it doesn't really matter if I'm jailbroken or not, but it does pose issues when it comes to updating iOS or if I need to take my iPad to the Apple shop to be fixed for whatever reason. Unless it's drastic, I would hopefully just need to connect to iTunes, remove said app, and then put it back on once it's been fixed.
So I assume the technique to keep this app would need to be undertaken while I'm jailbroken, so what would I have to do? If it can be done, that is..
Thanks!

No, sadly, once you restore your ipod to factory settings, the app downloaded in cydia will be gone. And if you ever needed to send in your iPad, you would just need to restore it in itunes
