...his High School team? Hello all and thanks for all your help in advance.
My son plays basketball, he is 6'7" and in the 11th grade. He was playing for his high school for since he was a freshman. When he was a sophomore he got really sick and admitted to the hospital and was unable to finish the season. His Sophomore coach got really pissed and has a lot of built up animosity towards him. He will call him out (like calling him a fat a#@, telling him he's worthless, acting like he's gonna hit him getting all up in his face.) I've told the head coach and he seems not to do anything. His current coach JV has said that this other coach has no say so over his team but still lets this coach disrespect, belittle, and demean my son. My son got hurt because the coach would not let him stretch and he pulled his quad muscle so the coach told him to go home if he couldn't finish practice. So my son tried to explain about his leg and the coach said he didn't care go home. My son left and went home they (the coaching staff) said that my son quit. This coach also told my son that if my son beat him in a mile race he would call me and apologize for any thing that he said to my son but he bet my son wouldn't beat him. The coach has even talked about me saying I'm the reason my son is fat and get hurt cause I stuff his face with frosted flakes.

Ok so to sum all this up, my son doesn't want to play with them anymore cause they said the only way he will be able to get back on the team is if he goes and practices with this coach. The one who is very belittling. My son doesn't want to cause he is concerned that if the coach gets in his face again and doesn't let him stretch and such that he will get hurt again. He currently plays travel ball and is the leading scorer and re bounder on the team. I am just concerned that travel basketball may not be enough to get recruited.

Any HELP would be great...I don't know too much about this so Please help!!
and excuse the long vent!!!!

We live in Los Angeles, CA.

I played basketball in high school for my school and out of school on an AAU team. Now I live in Texas so it may be different, but most college scouts came to the AAU games rather than school games. If you were serious they wanted you playing on a team outside of school AKA traveling team. On my AAU team we played tournaments in Las Vegas, Louisiana, and all over Texas. His chances are better on an AAU team (If that is what it is he is playing for) for getting a scholarship. My team had multiple girls signing for schools. When we would play tournaments the stands were full of scouts. I never saw one scout at my high school. Also, a boy who now plays for the University of Texas. Dexter Pittman, was scouted on a traveling team. Not his high school. Even though they take credit for it.
