Can only select "stereo" audio settings with my 5.1 setup on vista?

Hi, I've bought a 5.1 surround sound for my pc (32bit, vista, service pack 2)
and I can only have stereo as my "audio channels"
Do I need new drivers to have 5.1 as an option?... please give a link if yes
