can Region (A) Blu-ray movie be played in PS3 NTSC-J Region (A) (3) [3]..?

if I have a PS3 NTSC-J Region (A) (3) [3], and I want to purchase a Blu-ray movie Region (A) directly from United States.. Is it possible to play this blu-ray movie to this PS3.??
What is the difference of following: NTSC-J Region (A) (3) [3], NTSC-U/C Region (A) (1) [1], NTSC-J Region (A) (2) [2]??
