I feel that rock and pop are very different and should not be lumped together. Hell, rock is one of the most diverse musical genres there is. You got Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Hard Rock, Indie Rock, Arena Rock, and Metal. And Metal then further diversifies into Heavy Metal, Hair Metal, Nu Metal, Power Metal, Death Metal, Gothic Metal, it goes on, and on.
