I'm turning 18 in a few days and I want to get myself on a cell phone plan to earn some credit. My coworker said that I can buy a phone for its full price, then put it on a plan and just pay month to month. I was just hoping to get confirmation on whether or not this was the case. If so, do they still require a credit check, because I won't have any seeing as how I will have just turned of age to start gaining some. Last time I had to pay a deposit to get a cell phone for a three year plan, and I don't want to have to do that this time, because I do not have the funds. I can't see them making me put a deposit on a phone I am paying full price for...right?

Any information would be great!

You can go month-to-month by paying the full (non-contract) price of the phone. You will have to pass a credit check because they want to know if you can pay the monthly bill, it has nothing to do with buying the phone/device. Don't be surprised if they want a deposit.
