Can you help me find where the electrical problem is in my 88 Jeep Wrangler?

I had a problem with the Jeep losing power and then struggling to crank while the engine was warm. Someone suggested that this may have been a problem with the ignition coil. I replaced it, and when I turned the key, all I heard was a single click. I charged the battery and then when I turned the key the starter motor began turning, but would not stop including when I removed the key from the ignition. I actually had to disconnect the battery. Either way, the engine would not turn over.
