Can you still use the touchscreen interface during texting in Samsung Corby Pro?

I'm actually planning to buy one, but I'm curious, Can the touchscreen can still be used in texting in the Samsung Corby PRO? I mean, it has a slide off QWERTY board, right? Can you still text with using the touchscreen?
