Can you tell me if a Toyota MR2 (200-2005) is a good, reliable car?

I am considering buying a cheap ($8,000) convertible and I have come across several of these cars. The styling looks really good and I love that the motor is behind you. Seems like a fun car to drive. If anyone has own one I would like to hear your opinions on the cars performance and reliability.
