can your gums get like little pimples bc of throwing up??

my frien is sick she has a stomach virus and keeps throwing up :[ she said that she doesnt want to throw up anymore b/c her gums started to hurt and that she has this thing that look like pimples i told her it couldnt be from throwing up but can it??
