It wasn't the best of days for Argentine Carlos Berlocq. Going up against the number one player in tennis after making it to the second round at the U.S. Open for the first time, the 28-year old had played two sets and had yet to win a game.
That didn't stop Berlocq from winning over the New York crowd with his constant smiles and heart-on-the-court play, but what some might not have noticed was his touching gesture sewn on the side of his hat.
Berlocq had "9/11/01" right there on his gear, a tribute to the tragedy that occurred just over 10 years ago. Berlocq took a page out of book of Nick Faldo, who wore an American flag hat during golf's U.S. Open just over a year after the attacks when the major was held in upstate New York. Like Faldo, Berlocq earned the respect of another country's fans by doing so.
He might not have won, or even really contended against Novak Djokovic, but his attitude and classy move won him a ton of fans, including yours truly.
