According to your church, you're supposed to. Do you really believe this? How? Why? Doesn't the wine and bread taste just like wine and bread? Does this strike you as odd? I'm not meaning to be offensive, I'm really just wondering.

No... Catholics are technically supposed to believe that it's the blood and body of Christ. Communion varies each denomination of Christianity.
A Methodist, for example, would think that the bread and wine is just symbolic, Catholics are supposed to think it's the actual blood and body of Christ.
