So I was born jewish. But lately after hearing about the christan beliefs and how they say that all non-christians go to hell and i've become really scared. I keep wondering what if they are right and jesus really was the messiah and son of god that means I will burn in hell for all eternity. I know jews say he didn't fulfill all the prophecies but what if the second coming thing is true. Christianity is the biggest religion in the world. So if it's really not true and jesus was a false messiah why would god make so many people in this world believe a lie?

I know I sound stupid but I've spent like the past 2 months worrying like crazy about this.

But on the other hand I can see that jews have a point in that he did not fulfill all the prophecies and we're supposed to be the chosen people with an eternal convenant. And jesus was supposedly a false idol. I read somewhere that according to judaism everyone goes to gehenna a hell like place for a year after they die to cleanse their sins and then the go to a heaven like place and everyone can get to this heaven like place even non-jews but if you are already jewish and convert away you will not be allowed in. (at least this is what i read idk if its true) so if i converted to christianity and judaism was right i would not be allowed in and would be punished like that forever.

So it seems like either way if I pick the wrong religion I am eternally screwed. I really don't know what to do but I keep worrying about this. I prayed to god to give me a sign if Jesus was real like a month ago. I went to the mall the next day with my friend and some guy came up to us he was handing out pamphlet for his church which had info on christiany saying the jesus was the way and the truth. does that count as a sign or was it a coincidence I can't tell?? Oh yeah and what should I do convert and become christian or stay jewish. I'm so worried that I will make the wrong choice?

Talk to an open minded Jewish rabbi, and then talk to a Christian priest or minister who isn't out to add just one more scalp to his collection.

Then the decision is yours I'm afraid.

NOBODY is going to hell because they're not Christian. Only extremists believe that, and they're messed up in the head.

The Jews used to worship YHWH, Jehovah in the Old Testament. I personally believe Jesus fulfilled the prophesies about him, some he had no control over, like where he was born, and things that happened to him while dying, etc. You should read the New Testament for yourself and then in your heart you will know if it is true or not.

Feel free to read this Bible study aid online or have Jehovah's Witnesses study it with you at home. Best wishes.

Entering a religion out of fear is no way to live.
"So it seems like either way if I pick the wrong religion I am eternally screwed."
So pick the one you agree with!

signs are for unbelieving jews, according to God. could have been sign. tell Christ you're sorry, confess to Him your sins, ask Him to come into your heart & forgive u of your sins.

Calm down! It's all okay =)

Well, there are no coincidences, so this must be a sign, or it has a different, or deeper meaning of some sort that you need to find ;)

I was raised Catholic, but I don't believe in any of it. I mean, I believe in God, but that's just about it =) I do not believe that I will go to hell for being Wiccan/Pagan, because I think it's just ridiculous that anybody would suffer for eternity just for what they believe in!!! I have never heard that being "cleansed for a year" thing that you have mentioned before, but it's interesting. Personally, I do not see how suffering can "cleanse" your soul. I see hell as a punishment. Here, I'll just give you my story and beliefs, and maybe it'll inspire you =)

I was raised Catholic, going to church every day, and like most small children, I just kind of thought it was the way it was, like school, something I had to do. And I never paid attention or got anything from it. As I got older and realized that I was at the age where I should be more open to church and understanding what it was really all about, I was confused why I still didn't get anything from it. From the time I was very, very little, I grew to hate the death machines they call fly swatters, I saved (and still do) worms from baking in the sun, I have tried to stop my school mates from murdering little woolly bears and I found that I feel more energized sitting in a tree than I do at church.

So, I kept getting older, and church got worse and worse for me. I began to understand the stories in the bible and what church was all about and what the purpose of it was for different people, but none of those purposes fit me. To be honest, I am actually only 13 now, going on 14, but I consider myself actually quite mature for my age, not to boast O.o

I have never been into the type of things that other kids my age are into, like rock or pop or rap and especially not screamo, it burns my ears. I feel very spiritual listening to Celtic and folk music and am very inspired by it. I just got my very own incense for the first time this past Christmas, along with a tranquility fountain, some dried herbs, an herb chest, and other amazing things.

I have decided that I wish to start celebrating Yule instead of Christmas, Ostara instead of Easter, Beltane instead of May Day, and Samhain instead of Halloween. I have found that I am truly by soul a Wiccan/Pagan-type person, though I belong to no organized religion. I am very open to different religions, and find it silly that people fight over it and tell each other they're going to hell because of it. It's funny to me that a child my age can see above the countless adults who go to war over such a silly thing. I accept and respect all religions besides satanism or any sort of evil cults. All religions have a good and a bad side, and all religions have a relaxed and a strict side. I fyou are so stressed about this, I suggest you follow a more relaxed faith. Unless organized religion is just your thing, I strongly advise that you try to break free and follow your own path.

I am certainly not atheist, but I do find it very ridiculoud that someone be punished for their beliefs? It's insane, to me. So I say, follow your heart (I know it sounds corny) and follow the path that you feel drawn to. I fyou're htis stressed about religion, perhaps you should just take a break for now and focus more on your spirituality, how you live your wonderful life, the people and environment around you. And then just take it from there. Go with the flow, follow your urge =) I bet you could end up on a very unique path that just suits you, whether it be Buddhism or Wicca or Catholicism or anything. Or you could be like me, and just not be sure =) I don't know anything about Jesus and I don't ever plan on it. I just don't know, so I leave it at that, totally open-ended =) You could be a mix of both religions. Like how I'm some Wiccan, some Pagan, but I still believe in God. I am still finding my path, of course, but at least I know I'm on the right one because I didn't find it by fear of what other people say to me, I found it by following my flow and what makes sense to me, and by the lifestyle that makes me comfortable =)

I hope I have inspired you! =D

~May you find your path, whatever it may be,

Well in most religion it says if you don't believe in that religion that your going to hell so you know you really are screwed just stick with what you want and pray that your right

"how they say that all non-christians go to hell "
Anybody can make any claim like that. There are countless numbers of "possible" metaphysical cosmologies, many of them with scary threats if you don't believe them. They can't all be right, but they can all be wrong. What they're doing is an imaginary protection racket. They're not even providing evidence that their threats are real.

"So if it's really not true and jesus was a false messiah why would god make so many people in this world believe a lie?"
Wishful thinking. People are superstitious, and they go with what they're exposed to as kids or what they think is most popular. (Christianity may be the largest religion in the world, but there are more people who don't believe it, and there's not even a consensus across Christianity on significant religious points). Something being popular doesn't mean it's accurate.

"went to the mall the next day with my friend and some guy came up to us he was handing out pamphlet for his church which had info on christiany saying the jesus was the way and the truth."
No, that's not a sign. You said yourself Christianity is the most popular religion, and it is a common practice of Christians to try to convert people. God is supposedly omnipotent, if he wanted to give you a sign, it'd be unambiguous.

I don't have to read your life story to answer this. Just become an Atheist so you don't waste your life away.

Hello Heather,

If you are sincere about knowing God, you must pray that he guides you. God does not place people in eternal hellfire for no reason of their own. God will show you the way, and the decision is yours. that is why God sent people messengers... to remind people.

Like all God's creation, we are created to worship Him, and submit to His will. God does NOT except any partners. We must worship Him ALONE. That is the true monotheistic faith. Indeed, Adam & Eve were monotheists, but through many generations, people have turned to paganism (polytheism) due to sin and ignorance. God would select Messengers, in order to remind people of their true monotheistic faith, i.e. the submission to God's will ALONE. These include Prophets Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad -- peace be upon them all.

Both Judaism and Christianity are true religions of God. But both deviated away from the teachings of their Prophets. The Jews were difficult in following Prophet Moses. And after his death, God would constantly remind them through many other Prophets, until the last Israeli Prophet, Jesus the Messiah. Unfortunately, they were also difficult with him, and refused to except him.

On the other Hand, Christians who followed Jesus were the successful ones, but they too deviated away from his message. The Apostle Paul invented the concept of Jesus dying for our sins!!!. His followers glorified Jesus so much they made him into a God figure. Eventually they came with the concept of Jesus being God, or one of three! They lost Jesus' true monotheistic message -- That God is ONE and cannot be compared to any human being.

That’s why I call you to Islam. We don’t call you to worship a man like today’s (distorted) Christianity. Nor do we call you to worship an idol stone, nor the Sun nor the Moon… or indeed any creation. Our message is pure and simple… To worship God (Allah/Yahweh) ALONE who created the Heavens and the Earth. Who created you from non-existence, and to whom you shall return. "Islam" means "submission" to God's will. It is the religion of Adam and Eve, and all the prophets -- including Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus -- peace be upon them. They were all chosen to remind people of this true monotheistic faith.

May Allah guide you.

Flip a coin. Heads=Christianity. Tails=Judaism.

The religion that's true will choose for you. Just flip the flipping coin. NO THOUGHT REQUIRED.

You need not be hon. Christianity is Judaism concluded in wondrous perfection! And the only true Jews today are also Christian! Jesus was a Jew. His parents were Jews. Most of his apostles were Jews. The earliest Christian church was mostly Jewish.

Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of the Hebrew faith! He fulfilled every single OT prophecy. Study the New Testament of God and decide for yourself!

Godspeed!

Don't worry about Hell. Worry about what you believe. You owe it to yourself to have at the truth, whatever that turns out to be. God will not be opposed to such an investigation.

Seek God and see where God puts you. God will put you in the right one. Seek and let God help you in this.
bless you.
