Hi, I am a window's vista user and this problem never occured to me until recently. I have a external dvd drive that I connect to my laptop but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the player itself / cord / usb connection. Do you guys know what the problem could be? Normally, the icon appears in 'my computer' but it just dissapeared randomly. I can't recall doing anything to my files other than uninstalling some old files and games. I have looked up some solutions on the internet, but the suggestions are not working for me. Ftr, I've tried messing with regedit, right clicked 'my computer' and tried managing the hardware through 'manage' and 'properties' but none of the options have worked. Thanks in advance! Just dieing to play aoe2 again 
@-geo: normally, the icon for the cd drive would appear in 'my computers' regardless of whether I attached the player or not... but it just dissapeared so actually it doesn't even matter if i have the player attached or not.. i just want my icon back lol
