Channing Frye, the sharpshooting bigman for the Phoenix Suns, will be sidelined for an indefinite amount of time after being diagnosed with an enlarged heart. According to the Suns, Frye has a dilated cardiomyopathy — a disease of the heart’s left ventricle.

Last season, Frye averaged 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 26.1 minutes per game. This season, it’s currently unknown how much he will end up playing — if at all.

Without Steven Nash, the Suns didn’t have much of a chance to make the playoffs. Add the loss of Frye and now the Suns are really looking at a losing season. Training camp hasn’t even started yet and the Suns are already out of the playoff race.
