I'm a girl, not a guy named Matthew. </p><p> I ignored her. I disliked my mother right now. Not just my mother, my father included. I started toward our balcony and peered out the glass sliding doors toward the blue ocean. There was a current out today. Waves rolled against the sandy beach. I could smell the salty scent of the ocean. It smelled so sweet. Middlespring, Summerview, where we lived, was very peaceful. We lived outside the city's limits, in the country. Middlespring had beautiful beaches, beautiful people, and very nice, big houses. You cannot live in Middlespring and say you're not rich. It costs a fortune to live here. About $350,000 per year. </p><p> My peaceful mood was destroyed when I felt a squirt of water on my face. I looked up and saw my little sister, Samantha, holding her BB gun and squirting million drops of tiny water into my face and eyes. "Ha-ha, Mattea, you are surprised!" Samantha said, smiling wickedly, her braces showing. My little sister is a dork. She has long straight red hair and dark blue eyes. Not only does she wear braces, she also wears glasses. For her age, she's tall. Samantha is 5'5 at nine years old. I'm 13 and 5'8. I'm a whole head taller than our father. My mother is the same height. </p><p> "Sam, you dork!" I said with a grouchy tone, waving her off. "Take a hike." </p><p> "Make me, Matthew!" Samantha said, calling me by my full nickname. I gritted my teeth again. </p><p>I got up, roughly pushing Samantha out of the way, and headed to my bedroom. My mother called to me, but I ignored her. I was too ticked off to talk to her anyway. And I wanted to be alone. I opened up my diary again, picking up where I left off.
