Charging Blackberry Pearl with USB Cord?

I didnt know where my wall plug was soo i grabed my ubs cord knowing my friend had a computer but when i plug my blackberry in it says "USB charging current is not sufficient verify that your handheld is connected to a powered usb" and i dont have my blackberry program
