Affirmative action has long been a tool used to create diversity in educational institutions and employment. The plan was designed to end discrimination by guaranteeing minority hiring, regardless of gender, race, or skin color. It is undoubtedly correct that, “People shouldn’t be judged based on the color of their skin but by the content of their character”, but minorities shouldn’t be treated in any way differently from equally qualified white populations. Every member of society should be given the opportunity to reach the “American dream”, without any favors or preference to minorities, and without any advantages to Caucasians.
