I know that chevys are known for having weaker transmissions, but i want to know if i need to get it checked. Like any other chevy, the transition between first and second gear is quite less than smooth. The truck is a 2003 and has always been great, besides this. Do the rumors of the chevy transmissions make it seem like its worse than it is, or do i need to do make sure i dont blow a tranny.
its an automatic, if anyone was wondering.
Nope, never changed the tranny fluid, and it still smells and looks fine.

The answer is probably yes although I always heard Fords had weak trannys but were saved by lack of power.

ARE YOU DOGGING THE TRUCK???.see if there is a recall on it or just have the fluid/filter changed, and stop dogging it

That's odd.
I've got a 1991 Chevy 2500 with 246,000 miles on it and never changed tranny fluid, and NEVER had a problem.

Did you have the fluid changed or something?
