Last year, the Seattle Mariners inked Chone Figgins to a big contract. In his first season with the Mariners, Figgins was mostly a disappointment. Recently, there has been talks about Figgins being traded from the Mariners with the Oakland A’s being the main destination mentioned. Could there be some truth to the Chone Figgins trade rumors?
Not if you believe Jack Zduriencik, the GM of the Mariners.
Said Zduriencik: “Our plan, when we open the season, Chone is going to be our third baseman.”
In his last season with the Los Angeles Angels, Figgins hit .298 eith 114 runs, 54 RBIs and 42 steals. After signing a contract worth $45 million with the Mariners, Figgins hit .259 with 62 runs, 35 RBIs and 42 steals while mostly playing at second base.
Figgins, in 2011, will be moved to third base — as long as he’s with the Mariners, that is.
