Bang/Evolution/Creation...? Religion vs Science. I want to give a viewpoint and ask for inputs.

I keep hearing that Science and Religion do not mix. I disagree. I actually think that Science and Religion have the same outcomes. But, since people are unable to think about mixing them, they feel as though they have to choose one or the other.

Consider this...

Big Bang - Science says that the Universe was created by a large explosion that spread matter, dust, gaseous clouds, etc. throughout space. A gaseous cloud gathered dust and formed into a solid and eventually into a ball of dirt and water that we now call Earth. This took billions of years. Could it be possible that this is how God created the Earth? The bible says it was a day, but maybe a day to God can not be measured. Maybe its equal to billions of years. Is it not possible that God created a huge explosion that eventually formed the Earth and that was how he created things?

Well a general god, maybe. But pick any of the holy books and you are saying they got it totally wrong. The story differs in time scale, mechanism, and even basic order from what science has found.

No, Christians are no more compatible than Islam or Scientology is compatible. They will only become compatible if they have evidence.

There is no reason that Science and Religion can't both be followed. I'd prefer that people don't, though, to prevent people from using one to actually -explain- the other.

I mean...at least you're allowing room for interpretation, instead of just flat-out denying that evolution and the Big Bang occurred.

Your theory still makes baseless assumptions (such as that God did it, when you have no evidence for a God), but I can see that you're intellectually exploring.

Props to you!

1. the Big bang wasn't an explosion like a propane tank exploding, it was an expansion.
2. there is no evidence for a God or gods, so there is no reason to bring that into the equation when no evidence has ever been presented for it.
