Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep radio compatibility........?

I have a '97 Dodge Ram van, and want to change the radio. Will one from a '99 Dodge Ram pick-up work? They look identical, except for the tape player.

they,ll work,anything from 95 on up will fit that van, i got one from a dodge dakota in my 99 ram,and it works fine,they did improve on the tape player in those and they last longer,but they will swap out,you can get one from a salvage yard a lot cheaper that one though,good luck.
 
Both are completely compatible. I've owned Chrysler/Dodge vehicles over the years and performed many of the tasks in which you are interested in doing, especially switching one out for a tape player. Best wishes to you.
